  • Draft Health Information Act related Standards of Practice for Physiotherapists in Alberta

  • In accordance with Section 133(2) of the Health Professions Act of Alberta, the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta (CPTA) is providing for review and comment the draft Privacy and Records Retention Standard of Practice and the draft Documentation Standard of Practice.

    CPTA is circulating the draft Standards of Practice to seek feedback as part of preparation for potential amendments to the Health Information Act (HIA) and Health Information Regulation that could designate physiotherapists as custodians of health information. These draft standards have been developed to align with HIA requirements should legislative and regulatory changes proceed.  

    Albertans, CPTA registrants, partner organizations and other health-care professionals are invited to provide feedback until April 24, 2026, 11:59pm.
